Top 10 Moments in Avatar the animated series. Some moments are instant and some are not. 10. Zuko teaching Aang firebending A former enemy now allies with the team to teach the Avatar to teach him fire bending which he need to know for his upcoming battle against the ultimate evil of the series, Ozai. What I find interesting in this situation is that Zuko had to teach the Aang the art of firebending to help him in his battle against his father. Eventually Aang mastered this skill and this moment put aside their past conflicts as enemies. 9. Azula and Zuko at the beach This episode with Azula showed us a different side of Azula. A different side which did not showed a ruthless cunning sadist but rather a girl who was at best a bit eccentric but at the least tries to fit in with a people who are different than her. Not only do I a different side of her in this episode that is interesting but seeing Zuko's characterization was also interesting to see him have a different thoughts upon himself. Not to mention, the setting of the story took us to a different setting that is neither a village or an empire but a party at a beach. 8. Moonfish This scene was nice as it showed the connection between the moon and fish. This moment also shows the beauty of the creatures in the Avatar universe and the natural, more like supernatural presence in the story. This was also one of the more tragic moments in the story as the girl died that moment trying to save everyone from the destructive fire nation. 7. Iroh's determination After being betrayed by his nephew, Zuko, and confined by his evil brother Ozai, Iroh took the time to build himself up to become a warrior instead of rotting behind bars like what his brother thought. His unwielding and powerful personality made him impervious to the reality he has been forced into and by the taunts that he received by condescending prison guards. His intent to build himself up or to not fall into despair in a dreadful time for him makes him a very powerful character in terms of mentality and optimism. 6. Katara and Zuko's reconcilation For a long part of the series, Katara and Zuko was major enemies. Even after Zuko's decision to join the team, everyone was shocked but eventual trusted him easier except Katara. Her journey with Zuko to meet the man that killed her mother when she was child was one of the more serious episodes in the series but was also good towards bridging the gap that she had with her former enemy. I see this is as an interesting episode in the series as it shows us interaction between Katara and Zuko and a redemption for the latter in her eyes as a trusted ally and even as a friend. 5. Zuko joining Team Avatar At last, Zuko joining Team Avatar. This is after his reconciliation with Katara. Zuko, having been a major enemy and antagonist for the early part of the series now committed himself to being a helpful hand towards the team. The team is finally formed with Toph being a skilled Eearth bender, Katara as a skilled water bender and Zuko as the Fire bender that Aang desperately needed for him to take on Ozai the big bad. Zuko's addition to the team finally puts aside their conflict from the past and the team finally gets to move on together in their pursuit to save the world from Ozai. This even completes the Team Avatar. 4. Sokka's rescues his father A moment in the series where Sokka had to break his father out of prison. This plan involved some understanding of the prison, the prisoners, the guards, timing and stealth. Sokka reuniting with his father was heartwarming as it showed a son who risked a lot to be with his father. Sokka also gets to meet one of the Kyoshi Warrrior, Suki, and help free her from the prison. This moment in the series was suspenseful since it was a prison break, hearwarming for the father and son reunion and overall successful as they escaped from the prison. 3. Journey through the Earth Nation The journey to the Earth nation was interesting as this was the beginning of an interesting plot that would continue through season 2. Living a new life, losing Apa, exploring nation to find out some hidden clues and clashing with a powerful enemy, the Earth nation set forth many different subplots and moments for the characters in the story. The moment where Aang had to go to school as a way to hide from the world as an avatar was one of the more interesting subplots during this part of the story as it shows a different life Team Avatar had to live while being temporary residents in the Earth Nation. 2. Zuko and Ozai's clash The clash between Zuko and Ozai was climactic. Ozai thought that Zuko killed the Avatar and because of that he held some respect for him. Though when he realized that did not happened and that Avatar survived and that Zuko began to leave Ozai, things got worse between the father and son. The lightning clash between the father and son illustrates the worst aspects of Ozai that as a father he was willing to murder his own son if he could not satisfy him. The animation of the lightning and the fluidity of it movement was beautiful. Zuko capturing the deadly blast and redirecting it towards his father causing him to avoid his own blast. 1. Aang vs Ozai
The most anticipated and climactic battle in the entire series. Aang having resolve not to kill the monstrous Ozai but to duke it out with him in an all out battle that determined the fate of the world. In this battle, he also mastered all the elements that he has learned throughout the series. As a child, he fought against the most evil and powerful man in the world without running away or asking him to spare his life only. Conclusion of the fight was also good as it also reinforce the concept of Aang being the chosen, an avatar, seriously and using a unique power to take away Ozai's power.
